Obituary of Boleslaw M. Cwikla

Boleslaw "Bolek" M. Cwikla, 76, of East Syracuse passed away early Friday morning, November 29, 2013 at home with his loving family by his side. Bolek was born in Kurylowka, Poland and immigrated to the U.S. in 1965. He retired from United Technologies Carrier Corp. in 2002 where he was a machine operator for 25 years. He was an active parishioner of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where he was a member of the Polonez Choir for over 40 years as well as an active member of their seniors club. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, troubleshooting machinery, and travelling. Bolek is predeceased by his parents, Andrzej and Maria; his sister, Aniela Szewc; and brothers, Romek and Mietek Cwikla. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Genowefa Cwikla; children, John and Sharon (McDonald) Cwikla; Greg and Angela (Wagner) Cwikla; grandchildren, Colton and Hailey Cwikla; sisters, Weronka Andres and Hania Babiaz; as well as several nieces and nephews. All that knew him will greatly miss him. Calling hours will be Monday, December 2, 4 to 7 p.m., at Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 W. Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13204. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 3, at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13204.
