John passed away at his residence following a long term illness. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Ann (Pinkowski), his daughter Michelle (Rivers), and his two sons Bryan and Kevin. John is also survived by his granddaughters Gabrielle and Carollynn Rivers. John enjoyed playing baseball in high school, and afterwards joined the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged he settled down as a life long resident of Syracuse, where he met his wife Carol. John was an usher, and a member of the Holy Name Society at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. John was an avid golfer who also enjoyed NASCAR, and watching his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. John retired from Niagara Mohawk as a lineman. John’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Kindred at Home for all the help and care they gave to John.

There will be no calling hours.Funeral Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 9:30AM in The Basilica of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus 927 Park Avenue Syracuse NY 13204.
