Obituary of Guido Vellone
Guido Saturnino Vellone , who passed away August 7, 2018, was born on December 24th, 1930 in Syracuse to Francesco and Natalina (Tommasini) Vellone. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1949, enlisted in the USAF in 1951, and served as a jet engine mechanic until 1955. He was deployed to Clark Field, Philippines as part of the 44th Fighter Bomber Squadron. After discharge Guido worked briefly for the Herald Journal and was employed by Niagara Mohawk for over 35 years. He married Elsa Geremia on June 13th, 1959 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage. With his kindness, patience, generosity and sacrifice, Guido provided a home that was idyllic. His qualities touched everyone who knew him and shared his table. He loved spending time at his camp on Rondaxe Lake in Old Forge where he also enjoyed many years of hunting camp with his friends. Guido is survived by his children Frank Vellone (Sheila), Christine Walsh (Michael), Daniel Vellone (Elisabeth), including grandchildren Daniel, Elaine and Anthony Vellone, Matthew (Salome) and Cole Walsh, Elsa and Raffaella Vellone. Guido is survived by brothers-in-law Delio Geremia, Vincent Buzzelli and a large extended family. Guido was predeceased by his wife Elsa and his siblings Mary, Cris, Erm, Carol and Enrico. The family would like to thank the staff at Keepsake Village and Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. for the wonderful care Guido received.
