Obituary of Frank C Civiok

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frank C. Civiok, 101, of Camillus, passed away peacefully May 9 in his home under the care of his daughter Mary Anne.

Born in Rome NY to the late Walter Civiok and Frances Hawarska Civiok, Frank worked for IBM in Rochester, then Syracuse, for 38 years, retiring as a Customer Engineer in 1982. He previously worked for GE for several years. Frank enjoyed working and caring for his family in many different ways. His work ethic, endurance in the face of lengthy challenges, and sacrifices for his family are just a few of his admirable traits. He was an avid reader and a collector of items that caught his diverse interests. Frank loved to work with his hands and mind. He often wished he could have been born later to better experience computer technology changes in recent years.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Sophie Smorol Civiok, siblings Mary Anne Civiok Belinsky, Helen Skwarek Domagal, Jane Skwarek Kozick, and  Joseph Skwarek

Frank is survived by five daughters Mary Anne Barth (Camillus NY) Barbara Lawson (Crossville TN); Paula Civiok (Jordan NY), Lauren Poehlman (Liverpool NY), and Juliette (Jeff) Mount (Westford MA); two sons, Mike (Karren) Civiok (Springfield MA); Mark Civiok (Boulder CO); 14 cherished grandchildren; 12 cherished great grandchildren; nephews Gary Skwarek, Mark Hartigan, John and Michael Domagal, Stephen and Kenneth Kozick; and niece Mary Ann Kozick.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Syracuse where Frank and Sophie married September 29, 1945. He was buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. A Celebration of Life will be held later this year for family and friends to commemorate his life and his contributions to our lives.

Thank you to CNY Hospice for their in-home services, Nascentia home aid Steve Nucci, and caregiver Beth Finizio Chernoff for their warm, gentle, compassionate care.

Memorial donations may be made to Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse NY 13204 or CNY Hospice, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool NY 13088.
