Mr. Rybak will always be one of my male role models growing up. He taught us boys discipline and how to push ourselves even when we thought we were weak.
He was fair, strong and tough. A great teacher and nan to remember.

Mr. Rybak was my gym teacher for all of my three years (grades 7 to 9 ) at Roosevelt Jr High (1963 to 1966). I remember him as by far the best physical education teacher I experienced. He was dedicated and strict but fair and to those who who tried their best, very kind. He made gym class interesting and enjoyable. Most of all he got the best out of us and got us to do things we did not think you could do (the gymnastics unit became my favorite). The Syracuse schools were lucky to have him on staff and I was so lucky to have had him as my teacher and for three years. Thank you Mr. Rybak. You are fondly remembered by this very appreciative former student.
My sympathy to his family.

While it has been almost 50 years since I have seen Bill, I am a good friend of his brother David with whom I was schooled at the old CBA in Syracuse. I remember Bill a little bit as a rather active person and a lively personality. I knew his parents who raised 3 great sons in the good way that few kids are raised today. My most sincere condolences and those of my wife Judi go out to the entire family.

Like so many others, I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Rybak as a Physical Education Teacher at Clary Jr High. Mr. Rybak was tough, but fair. He lead by example. I recall the time I was a little hesitant in completing a dismount off the Rings, he showed me how by doing it himself, then spotting me when I did it. "They don't make them like Mr. Rybak anymore" Absolutely Correct!! My Condolences to his Family.

Dear Mrs. Rybak: I was you student in 1977 and you changed my life. Then I had gym class with your husband. WOW. I took the feminism I learned from you and applied it to his rigorous workouts. It was a life changing time. When my mom told me that you two had married we both cried. I knew you had found the one man who could appreciate and cherish you. I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Rybak was a great man and I so grateful that I had you both as teachers. You truly did touch the future. And you continue to do so as I have passed on life lessons from both of you to my own children. Across the miles and years I wish you love and comfort in this time of sorrow and loss. Thank you for everything. I remain, as always, a grateful student.

I am 53 years old and was privileged to have Bill Rybak as my gym teacher at Clary Jr. High school. He was a no-nonsense teacher who taught respect and discipline at a time when there was a lot of racial unrest with the desegregation of schools. He was always fair and objective and he taught all of his boys to be the best that they could be. I can still hear him call out "DRESS RIGHT DRESS". He taught his class like a Marine Drill Seargant but he was well liked and respected by everyone. Rest in Peace Coach Rybak! You did a good job here on this Earth and now you can rest. You are fondly remembered by all of us whom you touched with your message of hope and courage.

Mr. Rybak was my gym teacher at Clary, and a fellow parishioner at St. John the Baptist. After my father, he had the most influence on my development as a young man. He was a pleasant man, a good instructor, and a great role model for us all. He had the respect of all my classmates.
A younger version of this picture is how I remember him. Usually smiling, always a brush-cut. I still think of him often, and it always brings a smile to my face.
May God remember him in His kingdom.
