My dearest Aunt Barb, How I'm going to miss you. No matter what life shot at you, you took it and dealt with it and still took the time to be there for all of us that needed you. I always loved our conversations, on the phone or at the kitchen table over a cup of coffee. No matter how tough things got for you, you would offer words of encouragement to others that needed it. The world is a little darker sadder place without you here. I can't believe the things that have been dealt to you and you handled so graciously. Sorry for your lost, Mrs.Barb was a caring and kind person when I was a kid at Seymore she would make sure you were ok and safe. Every morning she would be a crossing guard and then a lunch aide she will be forever missed.

Even as a child she set her own destiny. When her mom died when she was 8, she had choices where she could live. I was hoping she would choose us (her cousins) but she decided to stay in the city where her father and brothers where. A couple years later at the ripe old age of 10, she announced to everyone she was converting to be a catholic! She started up such an uproar in the family. The Scheel family disown the catholic church when it refused to bury our uncle Charles. Uncle Charles drown and the Church called it back then drowning was a suicide. Catholic church did not give rites to suicide. But at the age of 10 she did what she wanted.
She went to work at an early age and didn't bother going back to school. She was 12 or 13 when she started babysitting full time. She made up her own mind to do this; no one could change her mind.
A few years later we were in a store and this kid walked up behind her and pulled her pony tail. She went chasing after him. I can't tell you what she did when she caught him. But they were married shortly afterwards. That person was poor Richard!
Later on she married John against family concerns. But she did as she always did: what she wanted.
One would think she had a hard life, growing up with out her mom (my aunt Margaret). Separated from her dad and living with brothers. I think that made her a very strong person! She never looked back, never lost her sense of humor, loved her family, children, and grandchildren, etc. She did what she wanted.
