Obituary of Joseph H. Dishaw

Joseph H. Dishaw, 74, passed away peacefully Friday, July 29th, 2016 with his family by his side at Upstate Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He was born September 17th, 1941 the son of the late Homer and Beulah (Ruley) Dishaw. Joseph married Sharon (Barton) Dishaw on September 7, 1963 in Ithaca, NY. Joseph graduated from OFA in 1960. He served in the Navy from July 1960 to June 1966. Joseph graduated from SUNY Canton (ATC) in 1968 with an associate degree in electronics. He worked at Kodak and then went to work at Niagara Mohawk in 1970 until 1993 when he retired due to disability. Joseph is Survived his wife of 52 years Sharon, a son; Joseph, daughters Ann-Marie Dishaw and her companion Howard Baum, Rachel (Dishaw) Wagers, and Aimee (McEwen)Dishaw; grandchildren; Adam and Joshua Ashlaw, Joseph H. Dishaw, Joseph Blackmon- Dishaw; Siblings, brother David ((Bonnie) Dishaw, sisters; Marsha (Don) Morley, Judy Donnelly, and Carolyn Dishaw. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Kaitlyn in 2000 and a great granddaughter Gabrilla in 2012. Joseph was an avid knife maker with knives all over the world. Joseph was known for his kindness, generosity and a sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
