David M. Swedowski Obituary

David “Squid” Swedowski, 65, passed away on August 4th, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary (Correia) Swedowski. They shared 32 years together. 


Born in Syracuse NY, he was the son of Eugene and Delores (Duca) Swedowski. He retired from the Syracuse City School District.


He was a loving and devoted father who prided himself on his daughters and their accomplishments and interests. He enjoyed attending his daughters’ sporting events, spending quality time with family, and taking care of his dog and grand dogs. He was a Syracuse University Sports and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. He will be remembered for his remarkable sense of humor, dedication to his children and family, love for music and sports, kind and gentle soul, heartfelt chats, and faith in Jesus Christ. 


He is survived by his wife Mary Swedowski, children Maria and Davita Swedowski, sister Marisa (Michael) Schinto, loving dogs Xander, Xyla, and Xara, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Delores Swedowski, and dog Xena.


The visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6th, 2026, at 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 West Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7th, 2026, at 10:00am also at Hollis Funeral Home, with internment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Repass will follow.
