Brygida Mrozek Obituary
Brygida “Bridget” Mrozek (née Bartkowska), 90, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Syracuse, New York, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in 1936 in Krzywki-Piaski, Poland, Brygida was raised on her family’s farm, where she developed the resilience, determination, and work ethic that guided her throughout her life. She later studied nursing in Warsaw before courageously immigrating to the United States, leaving behind everything familiar to build a new life in a country whose language she did not yet speak. She soon met the love of her life, Alfred Mrozek, and together they built a home in Syracuse, where they raised their three sons and built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and unwavering love for family. Brygida devoted more than 30 years of her career to caring for others as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was respected by her colleagues and remembered by countless patients for her kindness, steady presence, and genuine compassion. Nothing brought Brygida greater joy than watching her family grow. She celebrated every milestone with pride and cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.
When she wasn’t caring for others, Brygida found peace tending to her flower gardens, where the beauty she cultivated reflected the patience and care she showed throughout her life. She never lost her deep connection to her Polish heritage, proudly sharing its traditions, faith, and values with future generations. Elegant, fiercely independent, and endlessly compassionate, she lived with quiet strength and unwavering grace. Brygida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Mrozek. She is survived by her sons, Alfred (Renée) Mrozek, Leonard Mrozek (Linnea), and David Mrozek, all of Syracuse; her cherished grandchildren, Evan (Courtney) Mrozek, Alexander Mrozek, Morgan Mrozek, and Benjamin (Jade) Mrozek; her great-grandson, Wesley Mrozek; and many extended family members and dear friends. The courage that brought Brygida across an ocean, the compassion she shared as a nurse, and the love she gave so freely to her family will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
