Barbara Dawn Bonn Obituary

Barbara Dawn Bonn ( White ) 89, beloved mom, grandma and great grandma, affectionately known as G Grams, passed away Thursday January 22. She was born in Watertown NY and was a resident of the Valley area in Syracuse for over 60 years. She was well known for her love of gardening, watching the birds at her feeders, and looked forward to seeing her gardens awaken each spring, especially the early snowdrops and crocuses. She wanted to be a librarian growing up and was quite knowledgeable, you could always ask her anything and she had the answer. She could always be heard singing or humming to the oldies on the radio. She was an avid reader of mystery books and a big fan of Oak Island, which she was able to watch one last time surrounded by her family. She passed down her love of nature and animals to her family and helped many stray animals over the years.  She was an excellent cook, having worked at Luigi’s on Burnett Ave when she was young. Her pizza, pasta sauce and mac n cheese were her specialty. She volunteered at Van Duyn elementary school and also worked at Onondaga Community College bookstore. She delighted in hearing stories of her family’s travel adventures and loved knowing they thought of her wherever they went, treasuring her collection of souvenir spoons they brought back for her. She will be forever in our hearts and missed beyond words.

She was predeceased by her husband Salvatore and is survived by her children – Phyllis Campbell ( John ), Phillip (Patti), Dana, Cheryl, James and Diane, five grandchildren - Christopher Bonn ( Oranuch ), Ryan and Rachel Campbell, Matthew Coulon ( Mella ), Kristen Marturano ( Thomas ) and four great-grandchildren, Gian, Kira Belle, Landon and Sofia, sisters Sandra Romeo ( Nicholas) , Arlene Lewis, Lois Ranger, a brother James White and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours or funeral and burial will be at Valley Cemetery for immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cat Coalition or any animal rescue agency of your choice.
