Linda A. Klimek Obituary

Linda A. Eggleston Klimek, 83 of Onondaga Hill, peacefully entered eternity on January 18, 2026, with her loving family at her side.  Linda was born on July 19, 1942, in Syracuse to Edward H. and Mildred M. (Creamer) Eggleston.  She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1960 and later embarked on a fulfilling career with the General Electric Corporation as an administrative specialist in the Space Track program.  Linda cultivated many lasting relationships among her colleagues and attended the yearly General Electric retiree clambakes.  She engaged in an active lifestyle that included golfing, bowling, cooking, traveling, gardening, and boating on Lake Ontario.  She was always keen to root for Syracuse University athletics and the Syracuse Crunch with her friends and family.  Linda hosted countless family gatherings and holidays at her home while bringing cheer to all.  She looked forward to taking in the numerous cultural festivals around Syracuse where she would invariably meet up with old friends and share fellowship.  She was a member of the Syracuse Polish Home where she forged many lasting memories of wonderful traditional Polish dinners and events.  Her faith was important to her.  She was a devoted communicant of Saint Michael’s and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  As a Eucharistic minister, she administered Holy Communion to homebound Catholics.  Upon retirement, Linda and Bob moved to Santee, South Carolina for ten years where they experienced the beauty of the Southern lifestyle surrounded by other Syracuse General Electric retirees.  She loved and cared deeply not only for her children, family, and friends, but exhibited kindness to all she encountered during the daily interactions of her life.  Linda adored her animal friends – Spike the toy poodle and Frisky the cat.  Her tender ways and gentleness will be an enduring example to her sons and granddaughter and an infinite expression of her essence as a mother.

Linda was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Klimek.  She is survived by her sons, Kevin J. Schumacher of Camillus; Mark A. Schumacher of Westvale; Brett M. Schumacher of Liverpool; special granddaughter Stella Giselle Schumacher; and former husband Francis J. Schumacher.  She is also survived by her sister Eileen McClurg; brother-in-law Ralph McClurg; niece Mary Olson; and nephews Brian and Andrew McClurg.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the medical and support staff at St. Anthony’s in Auburn for the professional and compassionate care Linda received every day during her last years – you were her angels on earth.  We extend a special thanks to nurse Loretta.  We also offer immense appreciation to Father Frank Lioi for the spiritual guidance rendered to our family during her final days.  And most importantly, for the administering of the sacrament of Last Rites.  Because of Father Lioi, we are assured that Linda was in a state of grace and well prepared to enter the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Mom, you were a blessing from God, and we thank Him for sending you upon us.  We will remain faithful to all that you taught us.  Until we meet again, dear and loving Mother…
