Melrosa “Rosie” Ashby (Darrah), 71 passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 18 , 2025. Rosie was born on March 21, 1954 in Plattsburg, NY. She was the daughter of Russell Darrah and Theresa Janaski (Wood). She graduated from Phoenix High School in 1972.
After Graduating High School, she married her lifetime love, Alfred “Alfie” Ashby in the fall of 1973. Rosie, with Alfie by her side, would live a life full of love, humor, wittiness and patience while raising their first greatest joys, their two sons.
Rosie is predeceased by her mother, Theresa Janaski (Darrah), brother Russell “Rusty” Darrah, and sister Linda Murray (Darrah). Rosie is Survived by, her beloved husband Alfred “Alfie” Ashby, Sons Alfred “AJ” (Erin) Ashby and James “Bim” (Lisa) Ashby; her brothers Richard (Karen) Darrah, Ed Darrah and Dan Darrah; her sisters Mary Lloyd (Darrah) and Lisa Darrah. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren: Alan, Jenna (Dallas), Sarah, Zachary, Hailey, Nathan, and Emma; as well as her beloved Great-granddaughter Maeve.
Family was everything to Rosie. She took care of everyone around her with unending patience and kindness. Her door was always open for a snack or a laugh at the kitchen table, where you could always find her playing Scrabble. She spent years caring for her grandchildren and many others who got to call her Nana. Rosie, you will be missed by so many!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Phoenix Fire Department, Reception Hall on Sunday 11/23/2025 from 4pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Phoenix Enterprise Fire Company #1 or Erin’s Angels of CNY (www.erinsangels.com).
