Joshua Richard Mitchell, 41, of Rome, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on October 27, 2025.

Born on June 14, 1984, in Newport News, Virginia, Josh was the beloved son of Catherine Eggleston and Everett Mitchell. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Mitchell; his sister, Sarah Mullins, her husband Michael, and their children, Graham and Carlie Grace; and his parents.

Josh grew up in Keysville, Virginia, and attended school in Mechanicsville, Virginia. It was during this time that he was first introduced to Jehovah’s Witnesses, and he was baptized on March 7, 2004.

Josh and Jennifer were married on September 5, 2009, in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Their journey together took them to Mechanicsville and Danville, VA, Ambato, Ecuador, and most recently Rome, NY, where they were active members of the Oneida, NY congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Their years of service were marked by a deep commitment to helping others through Bible study and personal support and encouragement. Josh touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and generosity. 

He was known for his quick wit, his deep interest in science fiction, enthusiasm for pickleball, and his affection for animals. His presence brought joy and laughter to those around him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A private memorial service will be held for family. Friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Mitchell residence.
