John J. Sposato, 75, passed away, 9/15/2025 at Upstate University Hospital. He was the partner of Nancy C. Roberts. They shared 15 happy years together.
Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of Jack and Theresa Sposato. He graduated with his master’s degree from University at Albany, SUNY in 1976. He retired from Pyramid Brokerage after 20+ years as a commercial real estate agent.
He was a member of the Onondaga Historical Association where he was able to express his love for history by participating in various historical reenactments and the annual ghost walk as a guide. He was a guest reviewer for Table Hopping’s monthly “The Write Stuff”. John was an avid reader and wrote his own book, “The History of Downtown Syracuse”, tracing each building on the streets of the city from its origin on. John liked to fix and build things and was always working on an electrical or carpentry project. Everyone knows that John loved the Yankees and classic cars, but most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family. He will be remembered for being a hard worker, a good friend and a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by Nancy C. Roberts, daughters Lisa Sposato, Melissa Sposato, son John Sposato, his five grandchildren, Arianna Robinson, Jayden Robinson, Tray Robinson, Michaela Sposato and Meadow Sposato, brother, Mark Sposato (Delores) and nieces, Stephanie Leone (Vinnie) and Nicole Ogilvie (Jerry). He was predeceased by his father, Jack L. Sposato, mother, Theresa L. Sposato and ex-wife, Susan Sposato.
The calling hours will be held on 10/5/25, at Hollis Funeral Home, located at 1105 West Genesee Street, Syracuse NY, 13204. The visitation will be held from 1:00pm-3:00pm
