Rhonda Coyer Peterson, born 1/30/1956 to Martha Hauer Coyer and Elmer Coyer, passed away at home on 8/26/2025 in Syracuse, NY. She graduated from Altmar Parish Williamstown High School and she completed 2 semesters at SUNY Oswego. She lived in Oswego County for most of her life. She took on many roles in her younger years including a manager of a small restaurant, a secretary for a manufactured home company, a baker in a grocery store as well as a self-proclaimed “domestic goddess”. She was a lover of all creatures great and small and a cultivator of flower and vegetable gardens. She was also an avid sewer, crafter and painter. She had an immense passion for all things art, and dedicated much of her time to creating beautiful and unique pieces. Her passion for art was admirable, and countless households have some piece of her art in them, be it a doll, a painting, or something she stitched or sewed. Her friends and family offered beautiful words to describe her including a great friend, a beautiful soul, a light in the darkness and a funny, crazy, and loving person. Rhonda’s most cherished memories were those where she helped anyone in need. She is survived by her sister, Susan Coyer of Kentucky, her 3 children, Jefferey Peterson and wife, Lisa of Laurel Hill, Florida, Shelley LaMacchia of Syracuse, NY and Michael Peterson and husband, Jesse Rubado of Portland Oregon, 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Emanuel LaMacchia of Syracuse, NY as well as her beloved dog, Lily and her cat, Mr. Kitty. She will be reunited with her parents and her brother, Timothy Coyer. A celebration of life service will be planned for a later date TBD. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to CNYSPCA.org
