Patricia Almeida, 85, of Lakeland NY, passed away on August 26, 2025. Patricia, Pat as she

liked to be called, was born in Syracuse, New York to the late Henry Wiacek and Josephine

(Hanus) Wiacek.

Pat had a legacy of many jobs with her most recent being an administrative assistant at

Scrimale and Scrimale. In addition, she worked at Union Carbide, KEMET Corp as well as many

others. Her largest job by far was dedicating her life to helping her disabled daughter Roxanne.

She was actively involved over the years with the ARC of Onondaga and assuring Roxanne

was well taken care of.

In her free time, she loved to shop, garden, be with family, laugh and just have fun. Her laugh

was so genuine, and it warmed your heart.

Her late husband Arthur Almeida passed away in 2013. She is survived by her three children

Richard (Sharon) Almeida, Roxanne Almeida, and Karen (Derek) Hmiel, five grandchildren,

Tiffany (Chris) Wallon, Brianna (Mason) Austen, Alyssa Almeida, Hannah and Hayden Hmiel.

She is also survived by three great Grandchildren, Everett, Liliana and Jack Wallon.

She loved her animals so much and was known as the cat lady by many. Her view was that

cats are like potato chips, you can’t just have one, and she didn’t. She was notorious for being

late and her favorite line was I’m too busy to be organized, and she would have that infectious

laugh that would follow. She will be missed by so many that cared and loved her.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible caregivers who cared for our

mother over the past 7 years. Your unselfish dedication, love, compassion and comforting

presence meant more to us than any words can express. You treated her like family- with

warmth, respect and kindness every step of the way. Thank you for the care and dignity you

brought into her life as she battled that terrible disease of dementia. There were so many that it

is hard to list them all but most recently a special thank you goes out to Amanda A, Cindy, and

Ashley who spent countless hours making sure Pat was well cared for and comfy in her own

home.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday August 28 th from 4:00-6:00PM at the Hollis Funeral

Home located at 1105 West Genesee St in Syracuse NY.

Blessed by our almighty Father she returned home. To celebrate that a mass of Christian

Burial will take place on Friday morning August 29 th at 10:00AM at Holy Family Church located

at 127 Chapel Dr, in Syracuse, NY 13219, followed by a Graveside Committal Service at

Sacred Heart Cemetery, located at 6650 Beach Road just outside of Lakeland.
