Gregory Cywilko Obituary

Gregory Joseph Cywilko, 68, passed away on July 13, 2025 at his home in Syracuse, NY.  He

was a beloved Brother, Father and Grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Isabell Cywilko.  Growing up Greg

attended Sacred Heart School, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and moved on to

attend RIT.  Greg was employed at Sketchley Linen, operated his own business, Syracuse Linen

Services, in 1988, was the area manager for Cleveland Cotton Products, then a Bartender for

Pensabene’s Park West.  For many years and until his passing he was the Bartender at Twin

Trees on Avery Ave in Syracuse.

Greg loved serving his community from behind the bar, making countless good friends and

acquaintances over the decades, and also bonding with them in front of the bar. He was a golfer

and an avid Boston Red Sox fan.  But nothing made Greg happier than his family being

together.  He found immense joy in cooking for, and with, his family, sharing half of what was

on his plate just because it was so darn good, or just popping by with a takeout meal or

something he prepared himself.  In addition to a heartfelt Grace around a holiday dinner table, he

would often be heard saying, “family is everything” and “life is good” when the family would

get together.  Anyone who came across Greg would know that his boys were everything to him,

and later on, his grandchildren, who gave him a new appreciation for life and family. He had so

much pleasure in every family gathering, and looked forward to many more as his grandchildren

grew.

He will be remembered for simply being a good man, a pleasant man, someone you wanted to be

around and someone who was easy to be around.  He had no enemies, just friends he hadn’t met

yet.

He is survived by his three sons, Paul Cywilko, Carter (Ashleigh) Cywilko and Donovan (Mary)

Cywilko, Grandchildren Rory, Noa, Louie and June, siblings Mark (Marianne Moosbrugger and

daughter Ashley Leone) Cywilko, Alexis (Arnold, late) Janaro and Alan (Maureen) Cywilko,

Niece Alyssa, and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday July 20th from 1-3pm at Hollis Funeral Home located at 1105
