Obituary of Matthew Joseph Tabone
Matthew Tabone, 42, of Liverpool, NY passed away suddenly at home on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Matt was born on March 21,1983 in Auburn, NY to Anthony and Corinne (MacDavitt) Tabone. He graduated from Auburn High School in 2001 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College in 2005. For the past ten years Matt has worked for Southern Glazer Wine & Spirits in Sales. Not only did he enjoy his job, but he became everyone’s go to for liquor info and advice. Matt previously worked for several sports teams, including the Syracuse Crunch, (where he met Nikki and created a no dating the intern rule), the Denver Nuggets, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. As an avid sports enthusiast and an OG Stoolie these were perfect jobs for him. He also was a lifelong Rams fan, a team his dad raised him to love, and in turn, Matt was teaching his kids to be part of the “Ramily”.
Matt most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved music and going to concerts and his favorite band was Dave Matthews Band, who he saw an unhealthy number of times. He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling and smoking meat. Nothing lit up Matt’s eyes more than a perfectly smoked brisket! Matt loved history and was a numbers guy. He could do math quickly in his head and would love to quiz his daughter and turn it into a fun game. He had a love of puzzles that he shared with his kids; they were always working on one together. He was an incredible dad always looking for a snuggle and ready with a dad joke. Matt was also the best husband. He did everything for Nikki (especially after she asked 15 times). Everyone that knew Matt knows this doesn’t even come close to summing up the incredible person he was. He left us far too soon and he will forever be missed.
Matt is survived by his wife, Nikki and his two children, Mackenzie and Grayson, his parents, Tony and Cory Tabone, his grandparents, Don and Pat MacDavitt, his sister, Missy (Sam) Picciano, and their children Vivian and Ellison (also his goddaughter), in-laws, Denny and Cindy Giantomasi, his sister-in-law Erin (Andrew) Reeves and their children Amelia and Hudson, his sister-in-law Julia Giantomasi, and several other beloved family members.
In lieu of calling hours and a formal service, please join us on Thursday, May 8, 2025, for a celebration of life at the Home Team Pub (7990 Oswego Road, Liverpool, NY 13090) from 4pm-8pm. Everyone is welcome to attend to share stories and memories of Matt or to pay their respects to his family.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone who has reached out in the past few days and are incredibly grateful for the strong support system around them.
