Obituary of James Frank Maylo

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James “Jim” Maylo 81 of Kirkville passed away April 23, 2025, with his wife of 60 years by his side. He was born July 5, 1943, and grew up in Haverstraw, NY. He resided in Kirkville, NY and enjoyed many winters in Homosassa Springs, Florida. He served in the United States Airforce and was stationed at Hancock Field, Syracuse when he met his wife. He was employed as a facilities manager at the Carrier Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1998. Shortly after retirement he proudly took on the role of “grandpa” when his grandsons were born. They were his greatest joy. Jim’s other passion was restoring his 55 and 56 classic Chevy cars. He spent many hours restoring his old cars, attending car shows, and going for rides. He especially liked The Syracuse Nationals. His cars won several awards and were featured in the Syracuse Post Standard. He loved to show off his cars by escorting his family and friends to special events such as proms and weddings. He also enjoyed camping, the outdoors, all kinds of wildlife, his pet dogs and cats, music and dancing. He was always more than willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his wife Gloria (DiStaola) Maylo, daughter Stephanie (Kyle) Rogers, grandsons Cameron and Wyatt Rogers, and son James Jr. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Cheryl) Maylo, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is planned for this Summer.
