Nicolino DeCarlo

Obituary of Nicolino DeCarlo

Nicolino DeCarlo, 91
Born: Campobasso, Italy
Died: Syracuse, NY

Nicolino DeCarlo, 91, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and tradition. Born and raised in Campobasso, Italy, Nicolino made Syracuse, NY, his home for 67 years. He is predeceased by his parents, Giovanni DeCarlo and Rose Rotundo, his loving parents who watched over him as their only child.

He was married to Cora Sue Trice for 33 years before her passing, and together they raised four wonderful daughters: Giovanna Kelly Ingram, Angela Tadros DeCarlo, Marissa Edwards, and Nicolina Montreal. Through them, Nicolino was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy in his life.

Nicolino found love again with his second wife, Elizabeth DeCarlo (Karugu), with whom he shared 23 years of happiness. Elizabeth’s three sons, Gilbert Karugu, Lawerence Karugu, and Victor Karugu, brought an additional layer of love into his life, along with three more grandchildren.

As the owner of CiCi Shoe Repair, Nicolino was known far and wide for his craftsmanship and attention to detail, but it was his true passions that set him apart. A gifted cook, Nicolino’s meals were a symbol of his warmth, generosity, and love for family. His kitchen was always a place where stories were shared, and memories were made, often accompanied by his signature laugh.

Nicolino’s deep devotion to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was evident in the strength of his faith, a faith he carried proudly throughout his life. His love for spiritual conversation was matched only by his passion for lively discussions, especially with his friends who spoke Italian. His conversations were filled with wit, wisdom, and humor—traits that made him beloved by so many.

Nicolino’s family, friends, and community will miss him dearly, but his memory will live on in the stories shared, the meals cooked, and the conversations that continue to echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rest in peace, Nicolino. You were truly one of a kind, and you will forever be remembered with love.
