Dieter Hanke Obituary

Dieter B. Hanke 83 of Jamesville NY passed away November 28, 2024.


He was born in Breslau Germany to the late Walter and Frieda (Krueger) Hanke in 1941. Dieter


came to America in 1957 and became an American Citizen in 1977. He resided in Syracuse “The


Valley” and moved to Jamesville in 2000.


He was predeceased by his parents, wife of 41 years Sharon (Lincoln) his brothers, Klaus,


Harry and Wolfgang, sisters Trudy and Margot.


Dieter is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Dan) Kellogg, Kristina Hanke, and Teri (Randy)


Reed. Grandsons, Ryan, Brandon, Dylan and Tyler, Sweetheart Granddaughter Kersten and


Great grandson Kohl. He is also survived by his sisters Zigrid and Gerda, brother Roland and


many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Dieter was a Mason by trade. He held many jobs over the years, did a lot of side work and


retired from the Physical Plant at Syracuse University. He enjoyed spending time with his family,


playing slot machines in the casino, and scratching NYS instant lottery tickets. He was an avid


NY Giants, NY Yankees and NY Rangers fan. He loved to “have a cold one” while watching the


games.


The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Fahey staff for caring for him in his final


days and to Charlie Hollis for being so kindhearted and comforting through this transition.


There will be a celebration of Dieters life to be held at a later date for those wishing to “Have a


cold one” for Dieter.
