Obituary of Jeffrey Holbert

Please share a memory of Jeffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeffrey L Holbert, love of my life, best friend and husband of 43 yrs. Dec.17th, was welcomed into the open arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Dec. 16th after a hard battle with Dementia, and when God said "enough" and took him home.  Jeff was predeceased by his father and mother, Robert and Helen (Sanaeko) Holbert and infant son, Micaiah.  He is survived by myself, Evelyn (Bill) Holbert, son, Aaron, and daughter, Lydia.  He was a wonderful husband and a great father to Aaron, Micaiah (21 mos.) and Lydia.  Jeff looked up to his brothers, Bob (Sally) Holbert, and Gary (Pat) Holbert and had fond memories of his childhood, growing up with many cousins.  He was loved by many nieces and one nephew on my side and four nephews on his side.  Jeff  graduated from Johnson City High School in '72 where he played baseball and football.  He graduated from Broome Com. College in "74 and Practical Bible Training School recently named Davis College in '82.  Jeff worked in the local Prison Ministry for approx. 30 yrs.  He loved sharing God's Word and seeing lives changed when they received Christ as their Savior.  Many of these inmates kept in touch after they were released.  Jeff was a faithful, hard worker at Frito Lay where he retired 5 yrs. ago after 34 yrs. He made several  special, lifelong friends there, and as well as from Practical. Jeff will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we know he is healed and healthy now with a great mind and is singing praises to his God, without a face mask on!   He also was greeted by Moses, Wendi, and Pete, wagging their tails, anxious to give him the kisses he always loved from them.

A Poem which has a special meaning for Evelyn:

You can shed tears because I am gone, or you can  smile  because I lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that I will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all I left for you.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see me, or you can be full of the love we shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,  or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember only that I am gone, or you can cherish my memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind and feel empty, or you can do what I would want--     Smile, Open your heart, Love.....and go on.
