Obituary of Nancy Cummings
Nancy Trojnar Cummings, 71, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2020. Nancy was born in Syracuse and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Syracuse University. She spent most of her career as a computer teacher in the Catholic schools. She was extremely proud of her Polish heritage and devoted much of her time to the advancement and preservation of the Polish culture. Her volunteer commitments included being an officer for the Polish Home and as the Vice-President for the Polish Scholarship Fund, which sponsors the Syracuse Polish Festival. At the festival this past June, she was recognized by her community with the honor of “Pole of the Year”, of which she was extremely proud.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Roxanne; her sister, Judy and brother-in-law, John.
Her family was her highest priority. She is survived by her loving husband Ron, with whom she shared 42 happy years; son Ken (Roz), grandson Brian, great-granddaughter Anabelle, sister Linda , brother Joseph (Anne), many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Nancy had an incredible zest for life that she shared with all people she met. Many groups of her friends would gather for lunches and parties on a regular basis. She especially loved spending time at their camp on Lake Ontario which she called “her happy place”.
Calling hours will be at the Hollis Funeral Home on February 4, 2020 from 4-7 PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 11 AM.
The family requests no flowers, but tax deductible donations may be made in her name to the Syracuse Polish Community Foundation Inc., 915 Park Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13204.
