Obituary of Genevieve H. Ballas

Genevieve H. Ballas passed away quietly at home on Dec. 26, 2017 after a brief illness, a week before her 91st birthday. A life resident of Syracuse, she graduated from Vocational High School and retired from the federal government, working for the IRS and Selective Service Agencies. 

Gen was a communicant of Sacred Heart Basilica and a member of the Rosary Society. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary Council 6282, the Sacred Heart Seniors, past Vice President of Sacred Heart Mother's Club, and the Syracuse Polish Home. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen Piasecki, her brothers Alex and Walter Piasecki, and her beloved husband and dance partner of 60 years Edward C. Ballas in 2008.

She is survived by her three daughters Kathleen Muraski, Caroll Michaels, and Barbara (Louis) Moretti; five grandchildren: Dr. Sarah Michaels (Dr. Troy Sampere), Molly (Joseph) Cuda, Jessica (Edward) Michalenko, Amie Muraski, and Samuel Ideen, four great-grandchildren: Micah and Avah Sampere, Jackson and Joseph Cuda, 12 nieces and nephews.
